Vehicle description
This 1978 Ford Bronco Custom was refurbished under prior ownership and is finished in tan and brown over brown leather upholstery. It is powered by a 400ci V8 fitted with a Holley carburetor, a Weiand intake manifold, Trick Flow cylinder heads, and long-tube exhaust headers, while shifting is through a three-speed automatic transmission linked to a dual-range transfer case. The truck rides on a lifted suspension, 15″ US Mags wheels, and 33″ tires, and it is further equipped with manually locking front hubs, front disc brakes, dual sunroofs, and a swing-away rear tire carrier in addition to front captain’s chairs, Vintage Air climate control, a reversing camera, and a RetroSound head unit. Subsequent work performed following the seller’s 2020 acquisition involved installing a custom audio system and an Ididit steering column as well as replacing the carburetor, steering gearbox, brake master cylinder, and various engine seals and air conditioning system components. This Bronco is now offered in Idaho with a framed Elite Marti report and window sticker, a Bronco sign, advertisements, refurbishment records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in tan and brown and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment under previous ownership. Details include a brown removable fiberglass hardtop with sliding side windows in addition to roof clearance lights, dual sunroofs, round headlights, vent windows, low-mount mirrors, a power-operated rear window, and chrome-finished bumpers. A crack in the paint is noted near the tire carrier.
The 15″ US Mags wheels with Weld Racing centers are mounted with 33×12.5″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires, and a matching spare is affixed to the rear swing-away carrier. The front axle is equipped with manually locking hubs, and a Wild Horses 4×4 suspension lift kit has been retrofitted. Braking is handled by slotted rotors up front, while drums are fitted out back. An adjustable Drag Link was installed in November 2021 along with a replacement steering gearbox and a Borgeson steering shaft, and the master cylinder was replaced in October 2023.
The front captain’s chairs and a removable folding rear bench seat are upholstered in tan leather with patterned inserts and are joined by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Vintage Air climate control has been retrofitted, and appointments include a locking center console, wind-up windows, a reversing camera, and a RetroSound head unit with Bluetooth connectivity linked to a subwoofer. The air conditioning system drier and refrigerant hoses were replaced in October 2023.
The steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and is mounted on a tilting Ididit column. Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 400ci V8 was rebuilt under previous ownership and is equipped with a Holley carburetor, a Weiand intake manifold, Trick Flow cylinder heads, Ford Motorsports—branded valve covers, and long-tube exhaust headers. Work performed since 2022 involved installing the carburetor and replacing the fuel pump, intake manifold gaskets, and valve cover gaskets.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The dual exhaust system was repaired in February 2022.
The framed Elite Marti report shows initial delivery to Byerly Ford Inc., in Louisville, Kentucky, and lists factory colors, equipment, and production statistics. A window sticker, a Bronco sign, refurbishment records, and advertisements are also included in the sale.
