This 1968 Pontiac GTO hardtop coupe underwent a refurbishment in 2010 that included stripping and refinishing the exterior in metallic green with a light green vinyl roof, and it was acquired by the current owner’s father in 1970. The car remained in the family through the current owner’s acquisition in the late 1990s, and it is powered by a 400ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes 17″ alloy wheels, Goodyear Eagle tires, drum brakes, retractable headlight covers, power steering, and a dual exhaust system. The cabin is trimmed in Gold vinyl and woodgrain trim along with front bucket seats and a retro-look digital stereo linked with Kicker amplifiers and an aftermarket subwoofer and speakers. This GTO is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean Texas title in the current owner’s name.
The car was refurbished in 2010, which included stripping the paint and refinishing the car in Verdoro Green along with replacing the vinyl roof cover. Details include a color-keyed Endura front bumper, retractable headlight covers, and a twin-scoop hood. The hood-mounted tachometer and power antenna do not work.
Five-spoke 17″ wheels feature gray centers and polished lips, and they are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GT tires. A full-size spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by front and rear drums. The rear shocks leak.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Gold vinyl, while faux woodgrain trim accents the instrument panel and center console. Amenities include a padded dashboard, a heater, a defroster, and a retro-look digital stereo linked with trunk-mounted Kicker amplifiers and an aftermarket subwoofer and speakers.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by an analog clock with an inset timer and fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 15k of which were added under current ownership.
The 400ci V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and a single-snorkel air cleaner, and the engine is said to have been overhauled during the refurbishment. Factory-rated output was 350 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque.
The engine code stamp is displayed above.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Long-tube headers flow to an H-pipe midsection and Summit Racing mufflers.
