Vehicle description
This 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 is a double cab pickup that underwent refurbishment in 2012 by Muncie Imports and Classics of Muncie, Indiana, and is finished in yellow and white over matching upholstery. It is powered by a replacement air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes safari-style windshields, pop-out rear windows, a fold-down tailgate and bedsides, and polished 15″ five-spoke wheels in addition to a Lecarra steering wheel, a Hurst trigger shifter, front lap belts, a 12-volt electrical system, and a Kenwood head unit. The carburetor was serviced and the center drag link was replaced in April 2023. Acquired by the current owner in 2011, this Type 2 pickup is now offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment and service records, a car cover, and a clean Indiana title.
The double cab body was chemically stripped to bare metal before it was refinished in yellow and white in 2012. It features safari-style windshields, fluted headlight lenses, dual side-view mirrors, pop-out rear windows, a lockable fuel door, wood bed strips, and a fold-down tailgate and bedsides.
Polished 15″ five-spoke wheels wear “Spirit of America” center caps and are mounted with Toyo Extensa HP tires measuring 195/45 up front and 195/55 at the rear. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. The center drag link was replaced in April 2023.
The seating surfaces and door panels are trimmed in white leather with yellow diamond-stitched inserts, while black carpeting with yellow piping lines the footwells. Additional interior elements include a Hurst trigger shifter, sliding side windows, front lap belts, and a Kenwood head unit linked to speakers in the front door panels and below the rear bench.
The three-spoke Lecarra steering wheel fronts an 80-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 97k miles.
The replacement air-cooled 1.6L (AE) flat-four was installed in 2012 and is equipped with a single downdraft carburetor, a 12-volt electrical system, a 009-style distributor, and a degree pulley. The carburetor was serviced in April 2023. Work performed is detailed on refurbishment invoices provided in the image gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
