Vehicle description
This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190SL has been based in northern California since 1971 and was purchased by the owner in 2014. Service since then has included installing a factory convertible top and replacing the tires, shocks, engine mounts, and exhaust system. The owner also sourced a removable hardtop and had it refinished in silver, to match the car. This 190SL is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, a car cover, spare parts, and a clean California title.
Originally white with a black hardtop, the car was repainted in silver in 1999. After their purchase, the owner also sourced a replacement large-window hardtop and had it refinished to match. A replacement soft top was also sourced from Mercedes and installed during current ownership.
Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings, hubcaps with body-color accents, and 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes. Service during current ownership has included replacing the shocks and some of the suspension bushings.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats upholstered in red leather as well as matching door panels and dashboard trim. The red square-weave carpets were installed during current ownership. Amenities include lap seatbelts, a hand-wound analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows around 4,800 miles, though the total mileage is unknown.
The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was factory rated at 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. Service during current ownership has included replacing the head gasket, engine mounts, and exhaust system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission.
The car will be accompanied by a hardtop stand, a tool kit, an owner’s manual, service manuals, spare rubber parts, and a car cover.
