The LaFerrari was designed under Flavio Manzoni for Centro Stile Ferrari and was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It was developed as a technological showcase to celebrate the automaker’s 70th anniversary and served as the brand’s flagship model like the 288 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo before it. The open-top Aperta variant was launched in 2016 and features a longer front air dam, re-angled radiators, and revised aerodynamics, wheel arches, and door opening angles compared to the hardtop variant.
The LaFerrari utilizes uses a carbon-fiber monocoque structure designed by Ferrari’s F1 technical director Rory Byrne. This example is finished in Rosso Corsa and features a quad-exit exhaust, a rear camera and parking sensors, enamel Scuderia Ferrari door shields, bi-xenon headlights, and a carbon-fiber windshield frame and roof trim panel, which was a $41k option. A visible carbon-fiber hardtop was also optioned at a cost of $71k. Paint protection film was applied under previous ownership according to the seller, and a replacement driver’s door strut was installed in March 2022.
The five-spoke forged alloy wheels feature center-lock hubs and are mounted with 265/30ZR19 front and 345/30ZR20 rear Pirelli P Zero tires. The LaFerrari features a double-wishbone suspension up front and a multi-link setup out back, and it is equipped with E-SCM electromagnetic dampers, CST traction and stability control, multiple driving modes, and speed-sensitive steering. Stopping power is provided by red-painted Ferrari/Brembo multi-piston calipers over 398mm front and 380mm rear carbon-ceramic rotors. Fresh brake fluid was added in March 2022.
The cockpit features bucket seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara with red accents. Carbon-fiber trim is found on the dashboard, door panels, sills, and center console, and additional equipment includes air conditioning, a Bluetooth stereo, and a USB port.
The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of column-mounted carbon-fiber paddle shifters and features an engine-start button, a manettino driving-mode selector, carbon-fiber trim, shift lights, and an inset Italian-language plaque that translates to “what’s behind me is not important.” The digital tachometer with a 9k-rpm redline is flanked by configurable digital screens. The odometer shows just over 161 miles.
The mid-mounted 6.3-liter V12 features variable-length intake runners, a 13.5:1 compression ratio, and a 9,250 rpm redline. An oil-cooled electric motor is mounted on the back of the transmission, and the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack is located aft of the passenger compartment where it also acts as a structural element. New spark plugs were installed by the Midwestern Auto Group of Dublin, Ohio, in November 2021, while an annual service performed by Ferrari of Atlanta in March 2022 included an oil and filter change. Results from a battery system check performed by Ferrari of Atlanta in March 2022 can be seen in the gallery.
