This 1959 Cadillac Series 62 convertible was repainted red as part of a refurbishment completed prior to the late owner’s acquisition in 1999 and is said to have remained in storage for the last 10 years. The car is powered by a 390ci V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and features quad headlamps, dual-bullet taillights, fender skirts, and upright tailfins. Further equipment includes a power-operated white soft top, power windows, power-assisted steering, air conditioning, and bench seating trimmed in red leather. This Series 62 convertible is now offered by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with a Texas title.
Cadillac offered four models for 1959, all measuring 225″ in overall length and featuring updated front and rear grilles, dual-bullet taillights, and upright tailfins. A total of 11,130 Series 62 convertibles were produced for the model year. This example left the factory finished in Beaumont Beige and has been repainted red. A power-operated white soft top is paired with a red top boot, and further details include quad headlamps, a driver-side mirror, and fender skirts. The radio antenna is missing, and the turn signals do not work.
The 15″ steel wheels wear chrome covers and are mounted with wide whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners.
The cabin houses front and rear bench seats trimmed in red leather accompanied by a color-coordinated red dash, door panels, and carpets. Bright trim accents the interior, and other appointments include a heater, air conditioning, and power windows. A non-functioning Jensen cassette stereo is mounted in-dash, while an inoperative Alpine CD stereo is concealed within the glovebox. The interior lights, front-seat power adjuster, windshield wipers, and trunk closer do not work, and the front seat adjuster switch trim is missing.
The red steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and sits ahead of a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer along with a clock and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The seller notes that the speedometer cable is noisy, and true mileage is unknown.
The 390ci V8 was rated at 325 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller reports that the carburetor was serviced and the fuel tank and lines were flushed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. Rust is visible on the underside, and an exhaust leak is noted.
