This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS is one of 4,578 examples produced for the model year with an L78 396ci V8. It was delivered new through Brigance Chevrolet of Oak Park, Illinois, in July 1968 to an employee of Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago before being sold in July 1974 to another employee of the dealership, with whom the car remained for the following 36 years. Chassis 443374 subsequently underwent a refurbishment in 2006 and earned a Chevy/VetteFest Gold Spinner Concours award in 2007. Repainted in LeMans Blue, the car features a white front stripe, simulated hood vents, and front and rear spoilers along with front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl. Shifting is through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission linked with a 4.10:1 Positraction rear end, and further equipment includes a dual exhaust system, power-assisted drum brakes, and 14″ steel wheels with redline tires. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2020, this Camaro SS now shows 37k miles and is offered in Florida with a MacNeish report and Certificate of Authenticity along with a Protect-o-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, purchase documentation, service records dating to 1970, and a clean Tennessee title.
